In a best case scenario, I win by forcing the computer to spread out too thin, allowing me to sweep across the map. Meanwhile, I'm busy teching up to get halftracks, which may as well be mobile barracks, and trying to get an extra squad or two of basic infantry to deal with anyone sneaking past my front line. Once that's up, I start probing into enemy territory, taking what I can before retreating back to the forward positions. My basic strategy is to take 2/3rds of the map as fast as possible, then put up defenses as fast as I can, hopefully building a forward barracks. Somewhere there is a tiny, poorly textured mother who is weeping at the loss of her tiny, poorly textured son.

Now, I would just write this off as me making better use of my production in any other RTS, but Company of Heroes is realistic enough that I just plain feel guilty. Whether I win or lose, I seem to take at least twice as many casualties, infantry and vehicle.

I'm finally getting good enough at Company of Heroes skirmishes that I can win one on occassion against the AI, but it seems that I can only manage that by burying the other guy in my dead.
